Cherry Rocher Pastis Lapouge is a classic French spirit with a bold aniseed flavour. Made from licorice infusion and distilled star anise extract, it can be drunk neat but is usually diluted with water. Mix one part pastis with five parts water to lengthen and fully appreciate this unique tipple.

Pastis is also used in cocktails, such as Le Perroquet (‘the parrot’) - a vivid green drink made with pastis, water and mint syrup. You can use it as an alternative to absinthe in a classic ‘Death in the Afternoon’, where a measure is added to a glass of Champagne.

Pastis is often associated with the south of France, particularly Marseille where the drink was first commercially sold by a local named Paul Ricard. It is still one of the most popular drinks in France, typically served chilled as an aperitif.
